HEC once again proved its capability for manufacturing and supply of the biggest Satellite Launcher i.e.,
Mobile Launch Pedestal (MLP) for ISRO's up coming ambitious future project "Moon Mission ". MLP is a huge
fabricated steel structure in ISRO's history. This will be used for launching of Geosynchronous Satellite
Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mk-III. GSLV-MK III rocket has capacity to launch a 4 ton satellites into
geo-stationary orbit and 8 ton satellites into polar orbit. Till now ISRO has a capacity to launch up
to 2 ton satellites in to geo-stationary orbit. Earlier the launchers manufactured elsewhere were of
much smaller size.
This is the biggest Satellite Launch Pedestal ever manufactured in India to launch GSLV Mk-III.
It is a huge fabricated structure weighing approximately 800T and is of size 19.2M x 19.2M and
height 8.6M.
Major challenges before HEC were:
