HEC bags an order of 5 Mtpa Madhuban Washery Project, BCCL worth Rs 263 crores, adding a
new portfolio in its product profile. Coal India Ltd. has planned to set up washery on
Build, Operate and Maintain (BOM) basis to increase supply of washed coal, a value added
product for them, in line with present environmental norms.
The first tender based on BOM concept was issued on 06.01.2009 by BCCL for a 5 Million
ton per annum capacity washery to be located at Madhuband near Dhanbad. The bid due date
was 31.3.2009. The offer submitted by consortium with HEC as the lead bidder was found
to be most economical.
The project to be set up is environment friendly, designed for zero discharge effluent.
It will handle two products - Clean coal (ash content limited to 18%) and middling (ash
content not more than 40%) and shall have storage facility of 12,000T and 6,000T
respectively. A cross country conveyor of 1.6 KM will carry the products at 3600 TPH to
the hoppers of Rapid Wagon Loading system at the Railway siding.
The project is to be completed in 18 months period.
