HEC has made a valuable contribution in the development of industrial infrastructure of the country and helped the country in achieving self-reliance. It has absorbed technology from various foreign sources like USSR,Czechoslovakia, UK, Germany, Japan, USA etc. and developed it to suit the need of the country. The company has been a major contributor in the indigenisation and expansion of the Steel Plants and played a significant role in the modernisation of the core sector. It has saved valuable foreign exchange for the country as most of the products manufactured by it are import substitution items. It also has to its credit, a sizeable export achievement. HEC's major contribution is in developing an indigenous base for technology development and its absorption. Besides, the company is also engaged in the execution of projects on Turn Key Basis in the specialised area.
